TRX: Apex Motion XMA System FAQ

What is TRX: Apex Motion XMA System?

TRX: Apex Motion XMA System is a performance based martial arts program that blends modern open forms, musical performance, weapons handling, and safe tricking foundations. It is built on structured progressions, clear safety standards, and a focus on creating confident, stage ready performers, not just students who know techniques.

Who is TRX for?

TRX is for martial arts students who want more from their training. It is ideal for athletes who enjoy music, movement, creativity, and performance. The program is built for students who are ready to push into modern performance based martial arts and develop competition and showcase level skills.

What rank do students need to be to join TRX?

Students must be Red Belt level or equivalent in their home style to join TRX. This ensures they already have a solid base of technique, discipline, and body control before adding performance material, weapons sequencing, and tricking foundations.

Do students need to be members of Family Karate Centre to join TRX?

No. Students do not need to be members of Family Karate Centre to train in TRX. The only prerequisite is that they are Red Belt level or equivalent in a recognized martial arts program. Students from other dojos or styles are welcome as long as they meet the rank requirement.

Does my child need previous tricking or weapons experience?

No. Tricking and weapons experience is not required. TRX assumes that students have martial arts basics from their Red Belt level training and then teaches weapons and tricking through safe, structured progressions that match their level.

How does the 12 week cycle work?

TRX runs in 12 week training cycles. Each cycle includes weekly 3 hour sessions, three filming checkpoints at Weeks 4, 8, and 12, and a final parent showcase. Students stay with the same group for the full cycle so they can build routines, track progress, and finish with a complete performance at their level.

What happens if we join after the cycle has started?

New students are normally accepted up to the start of a cycle. If space allows, students may join up to Week 2, as long as they meet the Red Belt or equivalent requirement. After Week 2, enrollment usually moves to the next cycle so students are not rushed through material or filming checkpoints.

What happens if my child misses a class?

If a student misses a class, they will not be left behind. The instructor provides brief notes on what was covered and helps them reconnect with the material in the next session. Consistent attendance is still important, especially around filming and showcase weeks, because each routine builds over time.

What are filming weeks and are they required?

Filming at Weeks 4, 8, and 12 is a required part of the TRX system. Students perform their material on camera in a simple, supportive setup. Filming helps track progress, build confidence under pressure, and create a record of each student’s development. These sessions are treated like practice performances and are guided by clear, calm coaching.

Are the weapons safe and do we have to buy them?

Beginners in TRX weapons use padded weapons in class so they can learn safe handling and clean weapon lines. Intermediate and advanced students may use performance grade weapons under close supervision. Families are not required to buy weapons for participation. All equipment needed for class is provided unless a family chooses to purchase personal gear.

What is Eccaia’s book out days policy?

Because TRX is taught by an active performer, there may be rare times when Eccaia is booked for stunt work, shows, or competition. If a training night is affected by a confirmed booking, families will be notified in advance and TRX will resume as soon as she returns. The cycle structure stays intact and communication is clear so parents always know what to expect.

What will my child gain from one 12 week cycle?

By the end of a cycle, students can perform a structured routine at their level, demonstrate cleaner technique, handle appropriate weapons safely, and execute controlled tricking foundations. They also complete three filmed checkpoints and a final showcase, so both students and parents can clearly see growth in confidence, presence, and performance skill.

Is TRX a belt or rank program?

No. TRX is not a belt system. It is a performance based training system. Progress is measured through level expectations, scorecards, filming checkpoints, badges, and showcases, not through belt testing. Students keep their belt rank within their home dojo or style.

Will my child be pushed into tricks they are not ready for?

No. TRX follows a control first approach. Trick progressions are built in layers, starting with entries, landings, and simple variations before moving into anything advanced. No student is allowed to attempt a trick, transition, or weapon pathway that they are not ready for. Safety and quality always come before difficulty.

Can parents watch class and the showcase?

Parents are invited to attend the Week 12 showcase to see the full performance block, badge ceremony, and final routines. For weekly classes, viewing guidelines may depend on the host location. The priority is to keep the training space focused, safe, and productive while still keeping families informed and involved.

Why is TRX priced at 550 dollars when Eccaia charges 75 dollars per hour for private lessons?

Eccaia’s private coaching rate is 75 dollars per hour. At that rate, 36 hours of instruction would cost 2700 dollars.

A TRX cycle delivers those same 36 hours of high level training for 550 dollars plus tax.

TRX gives students the quality and precision of Eccaia’s coaching inside a structured group format. The program includes:

  • three performance blocks each week

  • weapons development

  • safe tricking progressions

  • Apex Motion curriculum access

  • three filmed checkpoints

  • scorecards and written feedback

  • routine development inside the TRX curriculum

  • a final performance showcase

It is also important to know that Eccaia’s private availability is limited due to stunt work, choreography projects, performance bookings, and travel. TRX is the primary way students train with her consistently each week.

Private lessons and TRX do not serve the same purpose.
TRX teaches the system.
Private lessons are where she designs custom forms, performance pieces, and trick pathways tailored to a student’s level, strengths, and goals. This personalized form building is not included in TRX and is offered exclusively through private coaching.

TRX gives families exceptional value for elite instruction, while private lessons add a custom layer for students who want individualized choreography or advanced competition work.

Should we consider private lessons in addition to TRX?

Private lessons can be helpful for students who want:

  • custom designed forms created specifically for them

  • individualized trick pathways

  • targeted competition preparation

  • accelerated performance polishing

  • advanced transitions or weapon sequences

These elements are not part of the TRX curriculum and are only available through private coaching.

TRX gives students everything they need for strong progression:
weekly 3 hour sessions, structured trick and weapon development, filmed checkpoints, scorecards, and performance training.

Private lessons simply add an individualized layer on top for students who want custom choreography or deeper refinement.

Because Eccaia’s schedule is limited, TRX remains the most reliable and accessible way to train with her each week, while private coaching is available for specialized goals.

Custom Form Creation FAQ

Is custom form creation included in TRX?

No. TRX teaches the system routines and performance foundations. Custom form creation is a separate service offered through private coaching.

Why is custom choreography a paid service?

Designing a form requires dedicated time and expert planning. A custom routine is built specifically for one student and includes level appropriate difficulty, trick choices, directional staging, and movement pathways tailored to their strengths. This creative work is not part of the TRX curriculum and is available only through private lessons.

How much does a custom form cost?

Custom forms range from 150 to 300 dollars depending on level, weapon choice, and complexity. Students may also book private lessons to learn and polish the routine (recommended).

Does my child need private lessons to learn their custom form?

A private session is strongly recommended so the student can learn the routine correctly and build confidence. Additional lessons can be booked for polishing, trick transitions, and competition preparation.

Can students request custom weapons forms?

Yes. Students may request nunchaku, kama, bo staff, katana or multi weapon forms if they are ready at their level.

Why are custom forms not taught inside TRX?

TRX focuses on the system curriculum and performance structure. Custom choreography is highly individual and requires separate planning, teaching, and refinement, so it is offered as a stand alone service.
